Let's Talk East Durham project is supported and funded by the Time to Change initiative which aims to end mental health discrimination. Let's Talk East Durham will sees teams of trained volunteers working in the hearts of communities within East Durham to engage the public in conversation about mental health. Members of the public will be asked to sit and chat about mental health, participate in a mental health quiz and given a Mental Health Information pack. Events will take place in a variety of settings such as shopping and community centres lasting for a minimum of four hours ensuring that the maximum numbers of people are engaged in discussion.
East Durham Trust are looking to recruit 6 Champions will undertake a 5 day training programme which will enable them to deliver a series of "Let's Talk" events and support a team of volunteers. We are also looking to recruit 24 Let’s Talk Volunteers who will undertake a 3 day training programme.
An open information event will take place on: Tuesday 11th September 1.00pm – 4.00 pm at East Durham Trust, Community House, Yoden Road, Peterlee. Co. Durham. SR8 5DP

We are looking to recruit volunteers who have:
Any personal experience of Mental Health problems (directly or indirectly) which would be desirable but not essential
Dealing with the general public
Speaking with others
All East Durham Trust volunteers are fully supported by our Volunteer Manager and will have expenses reimbursed. Volunteers will also receive full training to enable them to carry out there role, enabling them to develop many transferable skills.
